A Day With the Sea, A Night With the Stars — and I bring You with me

Dear Sayang,

Alhamdulillah, today was such a great day.

Early in the morning before 7am, I went for a walk to the beach. The tide was low, so I walked nearly 1 km down to the water’s edge. The weather was beautiful, alhamdulillah.

If you were here, I bet you’d be swimming far, far out into the sea. And of course, I’d be shouting your name worried, like always because you’re too adventurous for your own good. Always swimming out too far, making me panic!

After that, my friends and I walked to find breakfast. Before 10am, we’d already walked nearly 3km. See, Sayang? I’m keeping active. I think you’d be proud of me.

We planned to eat ikan bakar in Kemaman for lunch... but the shop was closed! 😂
So we ended up just eating nasi berlauk in Cherating instead. Wasted almost an hour, but we enjoyed ourselves.

In the afternoon, we went on a boat ride along the river, through the mangrove forest. It was so beautiful. And hot! My face is sunburned even though I wore sunscreen can you believe it?

After resting, I went back to the beach. This time, the tide was high I only had to take ten steps to reach the sea. The view was breathtaking, Sayang. Subhanallah. I kept wishing you were there. But I believe you can see me, right?

I smiled, Sayang. I brought you with me. You saw the sea, felt the breeze, joined me on the boat. Even endured the heat with me!

At night, we went on another boat tour to see the fireflies. Subhanallah, they were magical. It was pitch dark no lights allowed but the sky was so clear. The stars were sparkling, and for a while I didn’t know where to look: the blinking fireflies below, or the stars above.

And Sayang… I wish you were there too. You’d love it.

But the truth is… I miss you deeply.

I smiled all day, but inside, I cried. I still cry.

No matter how far I walk or where I go, this heart still longs for you.

And Sayang, this rindu…Rindu ini sangat berat

Hi Sayang, It’s 1.34 am. I turn and turn, trying to sleep… One arm under my forehead, eyes on the wall — our wall. Our wedding photo. And then… I cry. Again. Sayang... saya rindu. Rindu yang tak tahu bila akan reda. Rindu yang dalam, senyap, tapi menyesakkan. Ya Allah, Aku rindu suamiku. Rahmati suamiku. Dia insan yang sangat baik, ya Allah. Dia suami yang baik. Ampuni dia. Luaskan kuburnya. Terangi tempat rehatnya. Berikan dia kedamaian yang kekal. Sayang… I will keep saying it: I miss you. I love you. And I promise — I will try harder. To be stronger. To be the woman you always saw in me, even when I couldn’t see her myself. Are you proud of me, Sayang? Am I doing okay? I hope you’re nodding, with that soft smile of yours. Pocket Money from Ibu

Hi Sayang, Hari ini, ibu bagi saya duit. Bunyi biasa kan? Tapi hati saya terus rasa lain. Sebab sejak awak pergi hampir setahun lalu, saya cuba teruskan — tiap bulan saya masih hulur duit pada ibu, sambung apa yang awak selalu buat. Saya tahu itu tanggungjawab awak, tapi saya buat dengan ikhlas, sebab nak rasa awak masih ada dalam rutin itu. Tiba-tiba hari ini, ibu pula yang hulur duit pada saya. Saya senyum… tapi dalam diam, mata saya bergenang. Rasa macam awak kirimkan sesuatu melalui dia. Macam satu isyarat kecil: awak masih ada, masih jaga, masih fikirkan saya. Pocket money kali ini bukan sekadar duit. Ia jadi macam nota kecil daripada awak — “Saya sayang awak, saya tak pernah jauh.” Kadang-kadang kasih sayang itu masih sampai, cuma melalui jalan lain. 💌
